"On December 25, 2003, I spent all of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day recording this CD to share with friends. The music that you
hear on each of my site pages is from the CD. The recordings with Calvin Newborn were done in my living room on a TASCAM 4-track
cassette recorder, loaned to me by my "Memphis Brother," Mark Cox, without whose help and support, I am sure I would not be alive and
well in Memphis, today. Calvin is my dear friend, and musical soul mate. He is now living in Jacksonville, Florida. I miss him, but
listening to our music brings him closer to me.
The recordings with Kenny G, Grant Green, and Jackie Gleason Orchestra are me, singing live to their CD tracks. I was so moved by the
sensitive recordings by Grant Green. Many of these songs I have been singing since I was 8 years old. My mother was a singer and
dancer on the RKO Circuit, based in St. Paul, Minnesota. My father, now a retired physician and surgeon, is an accomplished pianist,
who still entertains many in Portland, Oregon, playing with a Dixieland Group, "Graham's Crackers" and he plays at social and charitable
functions as well. There was always music in my home. Many an evening was spent around the piano, with Dad playing and Mother and
I would sing. My two brothers, Mike and Gregg both played guitar, and were my inspiration for learning to play that instrument.
The song "Moonglow" was recorded by my friend, John W. Bellar (Johnny B)). He is a virtuoso dobro player, also an accomplished guitar
and bass player, as well as a fine vocalist. He has performed several seasons on The Grand Old Opry, is a sought after Nashville studio
musician, and did two national tours as one of the "Masters of The Steel String Guitar". I am so honored to call him friend, and I thank
him for allowing me to use his music. We performed together in Memphis, Tennessee in November, 2003 at Cafe Francisco.
I hope you enjoy the fruits of my efforts. I thank God for the gift of song that He has given to me, and for the gift of music that He has given
to all the world."
